Crisis resources
Orlyn offers supportive, evidence-informed guidance. It is not medical care, therapy, or treatment, and it is not built for emergencies. If you need help right now, the people below are.
If you are in immediate danger
Call 911 in the US or Canada, or 112 in the EU and UK. If you or someone else is at risk of harm, this comes before anything else.
If you are in emotional crisis
In the US, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). It is free, confidential, and answered 24/7. You do not need to be suicidal to call; being overwhelmed is enough. Pick your country for the right line where you are:
- Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, 24/7)
- SAMHSA National Helpline: 1-800-662-4357 (treatment referrals, 24/7)
- Emergency: 911
Help with alcohol or substance use
The SAMHSA National Helpline, 1-800-662-4357 (1-800-662-HELP), is a free, confidential, 24/7 referral and information service for individuals and families facing substance use disorders, in English and Spanish.
A note on withdrawal
If you drink heavily every day, stopping suddenly can be dangerous. Alcohol withdrawal can cause seizures and other medical emergencies. Talk to a clinician before you stop; medically supervised withdrawal exists for exactly this reason, and asking for it is a strong move, not a weak one.
Outside the US
findahelpline.com lists free, confidential crisis lines for over 130 countries.
